ALTERATIONS
CHANGED AND IMPROVED OUR SHOT LIST
Our feedback from the Dragons Den pitch and extra feedback before and after our pitch showed us that out shot list lacked some detail. Suraiya went on to go over the shot list that we created and made some changes that made the shot more clear and the shot list easier to grasp overall. Also, when drawing out our storyboards, we found that some shots didn't flow so we added extra shots to fill in the gaps, improving the continuity of our final product. We also had a lot of shots of the riots which we planned to create ourselves and film, however, we later agreed that using archival footage may be more realistic because they would be events that actually happened and it's safer for us. It also would have been a lot more difficult for us to find the suitable props to stage acts of rioting.
CHANGED FILMING LOCATION
Cranford Park > Bulls Bridge Tesco Underpass > Sunbury Round-a-bout, The Parade, Underpass/Alleyway >
Underpass in Heston > Beavers Estate Underpass.

We had to change the location of our first scene - we found that filming in a park would give a more peaceful feel because of the nature and plants around the park, which wasn't what we were aiming for. We then looked for alternative filming locations that we thought would be both suitable and safe for us to film in. We decided on Bulls Bridge Tesco Underpass, Sunbury Round-a-bout Underpass, Heston Underpass and Beavers Estate Underpass. Sunbury, we found, would be too far for us to travel and may be impractical for both members of the crew and members of the cast to get to which left us with Bulls Bridge, Heston and Beaver's Estate. Comparing the underpasses, how busy they were (and how many people were using it), and the graffiti on the walls of the underpasses, we decided that Beaver's estate would be the best option. Also, because it's quite small, there is more natural light coming from the two ends of the underpass where as Bulls Bridge and Heston underpasses are quite long so the lighting would have been a lot darker.
CHANGED ACTORS
Character: Aiden | Actors:
Mahir - Mahir is four years old. Our initial age for Aiden was going to be a young child as that would mean he wouldn't understand or be able to grasp all that was happening once his mother passes and he is taken away from his brother. However, we found that using a child so young may be difficult because he may have trouble understanding the script or what he needs to do.
(Changed to) Abdi - Abdi is a Year 11 student which meant he would be better at taking instructions and knowing what his role was. However, due to him being unavailable on the dates we scheduled to film (and having a very tight schedule), he was unable to actually take part in our filming.

(Changed to) Abdul - Abdul is also a Year 11 student. He did film the footage with us, but due to the framing of the footage being quite bad, we decided to re-film. Abdul wasn't available during the times we had scheduled to re-film and it was difficult to negotiate a time where everyone would be available again.

(Changed to) Waleed - Waleed is a Year 10 student. Waleed was also suitable for the role because of his age and skin colour. He is also a student and was willing to provide us with his school uniform as a part of his costume as we had planned the scene to take place in the morning before the two brothers leave for school.

Character: Business Man | Actors:
Hamzé - Hamzé was scheduled to film on specific dates that the rest of the crew and cast would be available on. However, last minute, he notified us saying he was unavailable. Due to the tight schedule and need to film, we decided to re-cast the role to someone else.

(Changed to) Aadil - Aadil is of an asian ethnicity which was better as it helped our cast become more diverse in terms of ethnicity. We wanted to emphasise that the area is full of different types of people from different backgrounds. Aadil also had a suit readily available that he was happy to provide us with as his costume to make him appear more professional, like a business man.

Character: Mickey and Aiden's Mum | Actors:
Aisha - Aisha is a sixteen year old so her age was already an obvious issue. We attempted to solve this issue by applying make-up and making her appear a lot older than she was. Although this did make some difference, her voice and height still implied that she was someone quite young and therefore didn't fit the character profile. For these reasons, and her inability to reschedule filming days/times, we decided to re-cast the role.

(Changed to) Tatiana - Tatiana is also a student however appears to be much older than Aisha did. Her skin colour is also a lot closer to the colour of the two boys playing the roles of Mickey and Aiden, therefore allowing her to fit the role of their mother much better. Her voice also appeared older, louder and more confident, like it would being a mother talking to her sons.

CHANGED FILMING DATES
(House Footage) Saturday 26th Nov to Saturday 3rd Dec - Some of the actors were unavailable and cancelled last minute. We were unable to find a back up actor for these roles and so we organised another date and time where the same actors would be available to film.
(Beavers Estate Footage) Tuesday 29th Nov to Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th Dec - Our original filming date for the Beavers Estate footage was Tuesday 29th November. However, we scheduled this filming to take place during school hours and arrange for the actors and the crew to be removed from their lessons. Unfortunately, it was difficult for this to be properly organised so we divided the footage into two parts and split them over two days to be filmed after school on Tuesday and Thursday.

(Beavers Estate Footage) Thursday 8th to Thursday 1st Dec - We found that rather than filming the second half of the Beavers Estate footage on the 8th December, we could film on the 1st December so that the Beavers Footage was completed two days before we had planned. This would give us some more time in post-production.

(Beavers Estate Footage)Tuesday 6th Dec to Sunday 18th Dec - The footage from Thursday 1st December didn't meet the standards that we wanted for our final piece. Therefore, we cancelled the filming day on Tuesday 6th December (where we were scheduled the film the second half) to Sunday 18th where we could re-film what we had already filmed and then film the rest of it. This way, the natural lighting would be continuous and the continuity of the overall footage would also be of a higher standard as well.
REFILMING
(House Footage) Sat 3rd Dec to Saturday 10th Dec - We filmed all of the house footage and later discussed the standard of the footage and whether we, as a crew, were satisfied with it. We acknowledged that the framing of some shots weren't very good - sometimes the top of people's heads were cut out or the occasional shot was out of focus. We also realised that this was due to rushing the filming process so we decided to re-film all of the footage and take our time with it.
(First Beavers Estate Footage) Thu 1st Dec to Sunday 18th Dec - The footage from Thursday 1st December didn't meet the standards that we wanted for our final piece - some shots were out of focus and the lighting wasn't particularly good. Again, we were trying to rush the filming process as we had little time before it became dark (with it being after school hours) so we rescheduled to film the Beavers Estate footage on a weekend where we had more time.

CHANGED THE SONG OF THE RADIO
The song we initially decided to use on our radio was Turning Tables by Adele as we found that it suited our storyline quite well. We later decided to change the song to match the location as we had to re-film the house scene due to obvious issues with framing. Due to the house we planned our filming around having Christmas decorations up at the time we had schedule to re-film, we changed our plans for our film opening to have the house scene set at Christmas time. This worked well for us as it gave the house an even more homely feel and showed that the family were happy and celebrating the holidays, In order to work with the mise-en-scene, we changed the radio song to Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens. Kayleigh then re-recorded this song and edited it to make it sound like a radio, once again. This song was also released before December 2010, the last Christmas before the riots, where as Turning Tables was not, making it unable for us to use it.
