CONTINUITY
As we took footage from two separate filming days, we found that there were some issues with continuity and our shots didn't seem to flow. For example, shown in our first draft, Mickey's costume changes back and forth with his gloves and hood being
worn in some shots and not being worn in other shots. For this reason (as well as us needing to remove multiple shots to reduce the duration), we removed multiple shots to avoid the repetitive disappearance and reappearance of the gloves and hood in the underpass footage.
DOG BARKING IN RAW FOOTAGE
In the house footage, there is a dog barking very clearly and loudly in some of the shots. The barking interferes with the filming and is too loud to be reduced or faded out. Therefore, we had to avoid using footage that had the dog in the background. We also attempted to mute some shots that didn't have dialogue in and made this less obvious by adding the radio music over the entire sequence.
RADIO MUSIC TOO QUIET
Once we added the radio music over the house footage and finalised our first draft, we noticed, and our feedback mentioned that the radio music was too loud and therefore it wasn't believable that it was coming from within the frame. The background music of the song couldn't be heard which made it sound as though someone was just singing within the frame rather than it being a pre-recorded song coming from a radio. In our final and complete version we ensured that the radio music was much louder and the song itself could be heard behind the voice.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
We used this page where we recorded the technical difficulties that we had through the construction process,
including filming and editing. The main technical issues that we had to deal with were a part of the editing process and so
there were some things that we had to redo or remove in order for our film opening to have good quality.
