STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON FILM TITLE ANALYSIS

00:00:08 - Production Company Logo
The production company's logo is appearing on the screen but the non-diegetic sound is of news reports about drug problems and police sirens. This demonstrates how the director has chosen to push the storyline to the very start of the film, giving the audience an instant view and idea into what the film is about - gangs, drugs and violence.

00:01:38 - A man's hand with drugs
A high angled close up shot of a man's hand with drugs on the table. There is also an ashtray overloaded with cigarette butts making it look very messy. There is no non-diegetic sound of music or anything to embellish the reality of their lifestyle. However there is external diegetic sound of some of the men's voices in the room having a conversation - the deep sound to their voices also gives a gritty and dark feeling to their characters.

00:01:01 - Title: Compton, CA  1986
A wide shot that shows the man opening his car door. The title saying "Compton, CA  1986" is written in a plain black, handwritten style font. This simplistic nature of the colour of this title can represent the non-glamourised fashion in which the film and storyline will be presented throughout. The fact that the font isn't fancy and looks like rushed handwriting could also imply the personalities and lifestyle of the people that the film is based upon. The setting of this shot is based outside, on a quiet road, in the dark which would also be typical scene for a gang or people involved in drugs.

00:02:10 - Title: Eric Wright aka Eazy-E
A medium shot of Eric standing infront of the door. The font is the same as the "Compton, CA  1986" title, giving a scruffy effect with the handwritten style to match their lifestyle and way of living. The background shows the dirty walls with writing and graffiti all over them to, once again, demonstrate that it's not glamorous or fashionable but still similar to some people's actual living conditions.
