Through our research into production companies we learnt about the different companies that are currently in existence and are in charge of ensuring a film has the funds to be made during planning, filming and editing. We found out that there are a range of cmpanies that produce social realism films for example BBC Films, Crown Film Unit and Hand Made Films.

WHAT ARE PRODUCTION COMPANIES?
Production companies are institutions that provide filmmakers with the funds they need in order to create productions. They provide support for film makers to hire equipment, studios and crew. As well as controlling where their investment goes (through budgeting), they provide the filmmakers with talent and aid them in post-production. It is important to have a production company signed to your film as they are imperative in ensuring that the film can be made in the first place.

You can find major production companies and small production companies. Major companies are used to working with large budgets and A-List actors whereas the latter are more suited to working with smaller budgets and new and upcoming talent in the industry. We are a small production company as we are working with an extremely school budget that the school provides us with and we are working with lesser known actors.
