DIRECTOR RESEARCH

From our research on different directors, we found that there are a lot of different styles to how they create films of the Social Realism genre. From Kayleigh's research on Ken Loach, we found that the issues within society while he was producing films were similar in themes: child abuse and bullying (in Kes) but followed a very different synopsis due to the way lifestyles have changed over time. Mustafe's research on Andrea Arnold showed us that some directors, like herself, used their own childhood experiences to influence and shape their films. Mike Leigh has a very unique style to producing his films; Suraiya found that he wouldn't use a script so that the film would appear more emotional and more real than it would if everything was pre-prepared. Kinza researched into Danny Boyle and found that he addressed everyday issues in order to make his films more realistic and relatable.
