BULLYING
A 12 year old syrian girl named Amirah moves to the UK after living in one of the jungle camps in Calais for 17 months. Her and her family gain asylum and try to start their new lives while trying to forget the turmoil they have faced. Part of Amirah's integration into the community is to start school. Her limited English means she is a bit slow to catch up with her classes but the one class she enjoys is Maths as she loves the universal nature of numbers. Her inability to speak English however proves to be more than an academic probelm as she begins to get bullied. People make fun of her accent and her past. Distraught, she tries to confide in her parents and teacher but her parents are always busy at work as they try to make a living and her language barriers make her afraid of confiding in teachers. She enters a state of depressions and scried every night.
